On March 2, 2021, a Texas jury determined Intel infringed various patent claims of US Patent Nos. 7523373 and 7725759 (owned by VLSI Technology, LLC) which are directed to microchip-making.

The point of this post is to simply highlight the actual claim language of the patent claims that were infringed and the associated damages. It's worth observing the length and detail of two independent claims that were infringed (claim 1 from US7523373 and claim 14 from US7725759):

The point here is to highlight the potential value of a claim is not merely the perceived length or detail, but the actual coverage of the claim on a particular product and the associated product revenues. On its face, claims 1 and 14 appear lengthy, detailed, and thus narrow. However, with the proper analysis, the true value of such patent claims was extracted. Good on VLSI Technology (a subsidiary of Fortress Investment Group) on recognizing value in these patents.

I'm making this minor point, which may appear obvious to some, because I've come across way too many instances where folks summarily dismiss patent assets based on claim length. This is just another example of how conducting the proper patent analysis could lead to substantial revenue downstream.
